May is Asian and Pacific Islander Heritage Month. Given the awareness of violence and hate speech against our Asian and Pacific Islander brothers and sisters, we will pay particular attention to their contributions to society and to the Church.
Pastor Noel will share from the new children’s book written by Laura Alary, Breathe: A Child’s Guide to Ascension, Pentecost and the Growing Season on Sundays May 2, 9, 16 and 23rd. It will be of interest to both children and adults.
**Sunday, May 2 - Communion. Acts 2:29-35; First Peter 2:2-7. We begin a sermon series on having faith in Jesus Christ. “Jesus - The Cornerstone.” All hymns this day are written by Asian Christians.
**Sunday, May 9 - Mother’s Day. I John 5:1-5; John 15:9-15. “Friending Jesus.” We focus on Asian Women’s stories.
**Sunday, May 16 - Psalm 93; Luke 24:44-53. “Ascended But Not Gone: What Asian Christians know about where Jesus is today.” We celebrate Ascension Day!
**Sunday, May 23 - Pentecost Sunday. Wear red and come prepared to celebrate. Ezekiel 37:1-14; John 20:19-23. “Jesus – Breathing New Life.” We hear “The Jeremy Lin Story.”
**Sunday, May 30 – Laity Sunday. Romans 8:12-17. Three or four laypersons share speak. How might our faith set us free from fear? What does being a beloved child of God of God mean to me?
